Golden Brown Restaurant

Me and my hubby celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary with a lunch date at Golden Brown Restaurant at Ilustre Street, Davao City last December 28, 2010. I would have wanted us to have our date at a restaurant somewhere in Ecoland but it's just too far away. So when we decided that we have to eat just near the downtown area, Golden Brown right away comes to my mind.

We used to frequently eat at Golden Brown when me and hubby were still dating since it is just very accessible to where we usually shop or stroll. I also love their foods and the ambiance is very cozy. The very efficient and approachable waiters is also a big plus when dining at this restaurant.

As usual, hubby ordered his favorite kinilaw while I ordered lechon kawali (deep fried pork belly). We arrived there at around 11:00 o'clock in the morning and we are the first customer. I asked the waiter if I can take photos and he flashed his big smile nodding, saying yes.

Here are some photos I took:

They also have a merienda (snack) buffet available from 2:00 - 6:00 o'clock in the afternoon. The cost is only 85 pesos but look at the buffet table and some few foods already served. It's a heavy snack! Yes, we have tried it before and it's really worth the 85 pesos you'll spend, given the plenty choices of foods they serve.

this is the merienda buffet table and a few foods already served. Only few yet because that was only 11:00 o'clock in the morning and their snack buffet starts at 2:00 o'clock in the afternoon.

Davao People's Park: Revisited on a Christmas Season

It's been quite long already since I have visited People's Park here in Davao City. I have heard from friends that People's Park is very beautiful now since there are lots of Christmas decors and lights since it's Christmas. I have seen it featured on national television, TV Patrol news.

I wanted to see it myself so before taking our Christmas vacation, me and hubby went there. There were lots of people queuing at the entrance. Near the entrance gate, you'll see the big tree and it was very nice to look at during the night. Christmas lanterns made of native and recycled materials were decorated atop the durian dome. There were really plenty of people inside and there were even excursionists from nearby provinces.

Kwek-Kwek: My Fave Street Food

My fave kwek-kwek

condiments that makes kwek-kwek yummy

Me and hubby were strolling on the streets just having fun to have the "feel" of the pasko fiesta celebration. There are a lot of people on the street. Some are just strolling as well, like us. What I love are the foods. There are many to choose from.

One of my favorite street foods here in Davao City is the kwek-kwek. It's just actually an egg, boiled, soaked in a flour then fried. What makes it delicious is the condiments. It has to be soaked in a yummy spicy vinegar mixed with a little chilli powder to have the spicy taste and a little salt. You can add sliced cucumber or a seaweed which is readily available if you want.

Christmas Party at Mahan Beach Resort

We had a Christmas party at Mahan Beach Resort. We decided to hold our party in the beach for a change. We usually have our party in our workplace but make it different this time.

We arrive early in the morning and most cottages were already occupied except for one which was reserved for us. The function hall was filled with people partying, playing parlor games and eating.

When we were already settled and all our things were in place, our "angles" right away grilled the pork meat and fish we brought with us. Keona, me and hubby right away soak ourselves in the beach because the water is gradually receding since it was going low tide.

We were really having fun especially our angels. They played hide and seek, throw beach balls, swim and had fun in the water.

I like Mahan Beach Resort because it's very accessible. It's just near to the barge wharf so we can just walk from there. There was also no corkage so we can just bring with us foods and drinks we want without worrying of corkage fees. It is not also as crowded compared to other more famous beaches in Samal island.

Here are some photos of the resort...

As I have mentioned in my earlier post, me and hubby attended the Kerygma Conference 2010 held at Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas Convention Center located at E. Quirino Street, Davao City. We arrived there just in time for the schedule which is 8:00 o'clock in the morning.

At the start, I was a little bored because it did not start right away. There were reminders flashed on the screen like putting off the cellphone while the conference is going on, not sleeping during the conference. The sponsors for the event were also flashed on the big two screens beside the stage.

It was almost 9:00 o'clock already that the conference started. At the start, there were singing of praise and dancing. I was very excited when I first saw Bo Sanchez in person. I have always been his fan and he really is a good speaker. Everyone listened when he speaks. He told about the famous story in the bible, The Prodigal Son. He talked about how Jesus loved us so much and that his love is all-embracing. He loves us regardless of who and what we are. Honestly, I can't get enough of Bo Sanchez. I want more of his talk but he has to give way to other speakers.

Then there was speaker Brother Pio who talked about family. He shared about his family and how he's able to raise an amazing children. Next speaker was brother Obet Cabrillas who talked about the secrets of being a happy catholic.

Chad Borja rendered a song " The Prayer" and made a sharing about his faith experience when he was diagnosed with throat cancer. He pointed out that we should not stress ourselves and that we should not "sweat the small stuff". Life is too short to allow ourselves to be stressed out by these petty things. He is now based in Davao City and owns the Seraph productions.

The conference was a huge success with an attendees of 2, 300 people. They said that once a conference is started in a particular place, it will go on every year. I'll definitely attend again next year if there is one.

Christmas Bazaar at Gaisano Mall

Have you finished decorating your house with beautiful Christmas decors friends? I know a lot of you have already done beautifying your homes with Christmas decorations since Christmas eve is fast approaching.

In our neighborhood, most of the houses have already their trees and decors. Our street turns into a glowing myriads of colors when the brightness of the day gives way to the night.

But I know that there are also those who are still wanting to add to the decors that they have put up in their houses. If you are one of those and if you are in Davao City, you can go to the Gaisano mall and the Christmas bazaar is still going on. They have a lot of Christmas decor display at the atrium ranging from Christmas trees, replicas of Santa Claus, lanters and more decorations for your trees like balls and many others.

Here are some photos...
